2006-7 Season - As a county, we have had another very successful season. Thanks must go to everyone who has done their bit towards making everything happen. Supportive parents, caoches, teachers, clubs, councils, administrators, umpires, officers, etc.. The consistent provision of high quality opportunities continues to pay dividends both on and off the pitch.
This season, a pilot league was created for schools wishing to play regular fixtures. Alison Wildgoose (Highfields) kindly offered to organise it. She did an excellent job, allocating pitches and dates for girls U14 & U16 and boys U14 and U16. The venture was successful and so plans are already underway for next season.
More clubs are providing junior coaching / playing opportunities and the number of schools with astroturf facilities has increased.
Dawn Moore (Secretary).

Belper Ladies Hockey Club’s dream of achieving a unique cup double was realised when both their U15 and U18 teams became national champions. The U18 team went one better than last year’s silver medal and the U15 team achieved an unprecedented fourth consecutive title. No club has ever held both titles simultaneously before.
The road to the finals started back in September. The U15s played five rounds; their goal record was 38 for and 2 against. The U18s played four, receiving a bye in the first round and they scored 25 goals and conceded 1 goal.
The finals held at Birmingham University (19 -20th May) saw Belper’s teams both take maximum points over their three games in the round-robin finals, with the U15s scoring eight goals and the U18s scoring six. Alice Sharp, the U15 captain, topped the goal scoring chart with three goals to her name. The U15 team enjoyed very convincing 3-0 wins over Bournemouth and Chelmsford - Essex and a 2-0 win over Teddington - London to take the title. Belper U18 Girls also enjoyed their success in similar fashion with a 1-0 win over Harleston Magpies - Norfolk, a 3-1 win over Trojans - Southampton and a 2-0 win over Chelmsford- Essex. Hollie Webb scored the most goals in her age group with three goals, two coming from penalty strokes. The squads had continued to train since Easter, despite the demands of revision and exams. The weekend achievements are a tribute to the way the players and coaches approached the weekend with their usual professionalism.
