2006/7 has been a season of mixed successes and disappointments for Derbyshire Clubs. Our leading Club, Belper, which had risen to the highest level in the Men’s game, were unfortunate to be relegated following play-offs against promotion chasing teams from Division 1.
However, both Derwent and Ramgarhia are to be congratulated on securing promotion from their respective divisions within the Midlands League.
In the 3rd team league, Belper won the East Midlands Premier division and
are promoted to Midlands Division One.
In the Central League, Burton 5ths won NE 2 and are promoted to East Midlands
Division 1.
Burton got to the last 16 in the EHA Trophy competitions at both 1st and 2nd team levels.
One major disappointment for the season was the 'award' of three red cards to Derbyshire players, two for offences involving violence. This was follwoing our 'clean sheet' of 2005/6.
