Dear Derbyshire Colleagues
I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you of the recent appointment of Jamie Fleet to the England Hockey Midlands Office. Jamie has been recruited into the vacant Development Officer post for Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire and will start his new role on Monday 2nd March.
Due to a number of circumstances, the role has been vacant for the past 6 months and I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this period. Jo Duff and the team in the Midlands Office have worked very hard to try and maintain normal levels of service during this time, but covering all the activities and meetings scheduled within the four counties has proved challenging. We now look forward to resuming full levels of service across the area.
Jamie brings a wealth of work experience, plus significant hockey knowledge gained in both coaching and administration roles, so I’m sure he will prove to be an excellent appointment and a welcome addition to the team.
Jamie will be based at the Midlands Office in Loughborough. His email address will be Jamie.fleet@englandhockey.org and his mobile number 07718 980510. I am sure he will be making contact with you to introduce himself very soon.
Thank you once again for your patience and support.
Kind regards
Holly Woodford
Development Director
You will be aware that England Hockey undertook a survey with clubs on the Single System recommendation regarding juniors playing in open adult leagues in March/April 2007. The England Hockey Board considered a detailed report on the survey findings at its meeting on 8 May 2007. Subsequently an interim statement was posted to the England Hockey website on 11 May advising that the Board’s decisions would be issued on 31 May 2007.
The Boards decisions can be found on the front page of the England Hockey website – www.englandhockey.co.uk or alternatively if you click on the following link you can open it directly – http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/core_files/fileDownload(679).pdf
The Board would once again like to record its thanks to all clubs who took the trouble to return the survey, which played an important role in influencing key decisions. Thanks are also extended to those individuals who had previously contributed to the survey’s development.
This statement is being distributed widely by email to key contacts and will also be included in the next edition of EH News which will be circulated to clubs in late June/early July. Please feel free to assist this distribution process by forwarding this information as appropriate.
England Hockey looks forward to continuing to work with the Hockey Family for the development of our sport.
Kind regards,Elaina (Elaina Leithead, Regional Administrator, England Hockey Midlands Office)

For many years John Litchfield has organised (totally) the Derbyshire
rounds of the National Schoolboys Cup competition (over three age groups).
He is now keen to pass this job on to someone else (younger?).
If you are interested, then please contact John for an informal
discussion.
Chris Gough, who's conducted all the Secretarial roles since the formation of DHA has retired. Steve Langrick took over all the secretarial role with the exception of minuting council meetings, general meetings and development group meetings but has now resigned. We desperately need a volunteer to become County Secretary.
Our constitution provides for a change of President every three years. Peter Danson has already completed his first year in office and we need a volunteer to prepare to take over at the end of his term of office. Please contact Peter for details of what the role entails.
Peter Danson, our President
